In November we will plant another section of mixed native species hedge on the edge of the woodland next to Widley Gardens.  The ground has already been prepared.  We will also spread wood chips to suppress weeds and help retain moisture in the soil.

The site cleared ready for the new hedge.

The whips will be hawthorn, blackthorn, dogwood and dog rose supplied through the TCV / OVO Energy ‘I Dig Trees‘ scheme, with a few hazel from other sources.  The intention is to create a dense hedge that will provide habitat for invertebrates and nesting birds, nectar, fruit and colour.

In line with Government regulations, we will take precautions to avoid spreading COVID-19.

Please bring your own gloves.  Tools will be provided, but you may wish to bring your own tools and alcohol-based sanitiser.

Boots or stout shoes are advised.

Meet at the corner of Widley Gardens and Privett Road at 9.30am.  Parking is available in Widley Gardens.

While current regulations apply, would you please contact us before the work party and book a place.  Please do not turn up unless you have received confirmation.

We welcome new volunteers.  You do not need experience of conservation work and there is no obligation to attend every task.
